Three Tools to Help Children Overcome Night-time FearsIt is normal for children to have nightmares and various fears around bedtime. Conquering nightmares and overcoming fears are important developmental tasks for children. The following three books by Mercer Mayer can help children face their fears. There's a Nightmare in My Closet by Mercer Mayer (Illustrator), ISBN: 0140547126. There's Something in My Attic (A Pied Piper Book) by Mercer Mayer, ISBN: 0140548130. There's an Alligator Under My Bed by Mercer Mayer, ISBN: 0803703740. Simply read these books to your children and discuss their own fears afterwards. You may wish to share a few fears that you had when you were their age. Hopefully these books will help children learn how to sleep peacefully. Overcoming childhood fears help children develop a sense of autonomy and increases self-esteem. The top photograph was by Nathan Dumlao on Unsplash. We are grateful.
